1st Birthday Cake Smash | Milestone Session | April Green Photography | Baltimore, MD Lifestyle Portrait Photographer
It's been waaaay too long since I did a blog showcasing a lovely gallery so i'm going to show you this beautiful complete gallery baby CJ's 1st birthday Cake Smash photography session from a few days ago. This little darling was absolutely fantastic to photograph and simply loved the cake, especially with all of the pink frosting!
For Cake Smash sessions I include a beautiful cake from a local baker. Color schemes are customized for each client to create something really beautiful and unique.
These sessions are all about having a fun experience and creating lovely images of a first birthday that you will treasure forever. I find most children react with a sense of wonder and are delighted when they see the cake. And most parents are surprised at how little cake is actually eaten! A cake smash really is a wonderful experience for your child and messy play has the following benefits:
- stimulates their senses
- develops independence
- engages the child with different textures and tastes
- develops fine motor skills
The session is split into a couple of parts:
Part 1 - Firstly we start with fun portraits of your child before they get covered in cake, it's a great idea to bring a cute outfit for them to wear. This part can include images with parents or an older sibling too.
Part 2 - Then the cake comes out along with a cute tutu or dungarees for boys and we let them explore the texture and taste of the cake!
I can honestly say Cake Smash sessions are my all time favorite.... they are such fun for everyone and we achieve a superb gallery of images each time.

Whether it is a bride, family, high school senior, or a fellow photographer I love getting to know everyone’s unique story and develop friendships with every person I meet. Photographing and documenting people and love stories and life is not about perfection. It is about creating the images that matter. It’s about love, and laughter and scrunched up noses and hugs that linger.
My heart – and my camera – would be honored to document your story.
